Georgi's Handcycle

This week is turning out to be a portrait feature which I guess is overdue. For all the eye-popping scenery, it's the inhabitants that really make Gabriola sparkle. Georgi is definitely one very interesting guy. Find out more about him and his amazing machines HERE

Antony Cuts A Rug

Antony Holland just had his 90th birthday celebration and when the guests were all champagned and caked and partied out, guess who was still on the dance floor? He's an extraordinary man and that's an understatement.

The NOW Orchestra with Kedrick James

These fine fellows took the big boat over from Vancouver and lit a fire under the seats at The Haven on Saturday night. Spoken word performance combined with beautifully out-there musical arrangements made for an incredible evening. Another outstanding event brought to us by Poetry Gabriola. Thank you!

Red-legged Tree Frog

There are quite a few very talented nature photographers on Gabriola. I'm not one of them but I do know a good photo op when I see one.

Blues at The Roxy

New Brunswick's Matt Andersen came through The Roxy last night, showcasing his wicked blend of soulful singing, bluesy guitar acrobatics and beyond-his-years songwriting chops. Good stuff! The big dogs down in Memphis thought so too: In January, he became the first Canadian ever to win the International Blues Challenge

Big windstorm today with lots of tree debris everywhere. The power just came back on after being out for nine hours so I better post a picture quick before it goes again.
